Applying the paint...

Pick a flat, clean surface to work on. Make sure you have all your materials ready, along with a protective sheet to avoid mess.

Lay your tee or sweatshirt flat and smooth out any wrinkles. Place the cardboard inside to prevent paint from bleeding through.

Secure your stencil with masking tape to prevent it from moving around.

Put some paint into the palette and mix up shades of your favourite colours then use a brush to gently dab fabric paint onto the stencil. Be careful not to use too much - you can always add more! (If you want to add a bit of sparkle, add a little bit of glitter to the paint in your palette, mix together then apply)

Once done, carefully lift the stencil and give it a little wipe with the kitchen roll so you don't smudge paint everywhere.

Repeat until you have done all your painting.

Leave to dry or give it a blast with the hairdryer.

Pop the baking paper/parchment over the painted design and run the iron over it (medium setting, no steam) to set the paint.

Applying the vinyl stickers...

Place your vinyl stickers (don't peel the back off yet) onto the fabric, ensuring the design is exactly where you want it.

Use an iron to press the vinyl onto the fabric (set it to hot and turn off steam setting) Cover the vinyl with parchment paper for protection and press down for 10 to 15 seconds.

After pressing, leave to cool and gently peel off the backing.

Lay the Parchment back over the vinyl and run the iron over the design for a few seconds.

Step 2

Applying the gemstones...

Peel off the sticky plastic from the white textured sheet. Put it to the side - you will need this later.

Place the template design (or your own - make sure it is mirrored) underneath the sticky plastic and tape it down sticky side up. Use the tweezers to place the gems face down onto the plastic.

When complete, carefully lay the white sheet over the gems  and gently press down.

When you are ready to press them onto your top, peel off the white layer and lay it in place.

Put the baking paper and/ or tea towel over the top and press down hard with an iron (medium heat and no steam for 20-30 seconds. It will be VERY HOT so please be careful. Leave to cool and check that they are all stuck down. This might need repeating- it's best to do several shorter presses.

Remove the plastic and stick back on the white sheet. Once cooled, turn your top inside out and repeat the press over the designs - this is the important bit to make sure they are attached really well.
